افتتحت مملكة البحرين جناحها الوطني “تلاقي البحار” في إكسبو 2025 أوساكا. وتعد هذه المشاركة الوطنية الرابعة للمملكة في الإكسبو العالمي. وتقام نسخة الإكسبو الحالية في منطقة كانساي باليابان وتستمر حتى 13 أكتوبر القادم تحت موضوع “ابتكار المستقبل لتحسين حياة المجتمعات”.
يرتكز جناح مملكة البحرين في إكسبو 2025 أوساكا على “تلاقي البحار” ليعكس دور البحرين التاريخي كمركزٍٍ بحريّّ تدفّّقت عبره التجارة والثقافة والأفكار بين الشرق والغرب، ممّّا أسهم في تشكيل هويّّة المملكة وإرثها.
منذ بناء القوارب الأولى قب ل 5000 عام، ارتبطت البحرين بالعالم عبر البِِحار، حيث كانت ميناءًً تجاريًًا ومحطّّة استراتيجيّّة على طريق التجارة بين حضاريتَي وادي السند وبلاد الرافدين. تَوَركّّز النشاط التجاري على تجارة اللؤلؤ والتمور، وتوسّّعت الصناعات لتشمل النحاس والنسيج. كما تطوّّرت تقنيّّات بناء القوارب والملاحة البحريّّة لتعزيز التبادل التجاري.
Expo 2025 Osaka | Bahrain Pavilion
The Kingdom of Bahrain inaugurated its national pavilion, “Connecting Seas,” at Expo 2025 Osaka. This marks the Kingdom’s fourth national participation in the World Expo, which is held in the Kansai region of Japan and runs until October 13, 2025, under the overarching theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
The Kingdom of Bahrain’s pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka is built around the theme Connecting Seas, reflecting on Bahrain’s historical role as a maritime hub, where trade, culture, and ideas have flowed between East and West, shaping the nation’s identity and legacy.
From the first boats built 5000 years ago, Bahrain has been connected to the world through the seas, as a port of trade and a strategic stop on the trade route between the Indus Valley and Mesopotamia. Mercantile activity consisted of trade in pearls, dates, and industries that would expand to include copper and cloth. Sophisticated boatbuilding and sailing technologies developed to facilitate maritime exchange, transforming the sea into a theatre of trade.
الهندسة المعماريّّة للجناح
يقع جناح البحرين في منطقة “تحسين الحياة” المواجهة للبحر بمساحة تبلغ 995 مترًا مربعًا وارتفاع يصل إلى 13.7 مترًا موزعة على أربعة طوابق، ويطل مباشرة على الواجهة البحرية للإكسبو. وصمّمت الجناح المهندسة المعمارية اللبنانية لينا الغطمة، وتم بناؤه باستخدام الخشب كمادة رئيسية، ويتمتّع بتبريد طبيعي يعتمد على نسيم البحر، وهو ما يجعله من أكثر المباني استدامةً في الإكسبو.
يستوحي تصميمه من السُُفُُن البحرينيّّة التقليديّّة (المحامل) ، حيث يُُعيد تفسير تقنيّّات بناء السُُفُُن القديمة، لإبراز مهارة الحرفيّّين البحرينيّّين، وإرث التصنيع في المملكة. يعتمد الجناح على هيكلٍٍ خشبي مستوحى من طرق بناء السُُفُن التقليديّّة، ويكرّّم التراث البحري البحريني، كما يدمج فنون الأعمال الخشبيّّة اليابايّنّة، وذلك احتفاءًً بالعلاقات الثنائيّّة بين البحرين واليابان.
About the Pavilion Architecture
Situated in the “Empowering Lives” zone, the pavilion spans 995 square meters and rises from 13 to 17 meters in height across four levels, overlooking the seafront. Designed by Lebanese architect Lina Ghotmeh, the structure is made from wood and cooled by coastal winds, making it one of the most sustainable buildings in the Expo.
the pavilion draws inspiration from traditional Bahraini dhow boats, reinterpreting ancient boatbuilding techniques to showcase the nation’s craftsmanship and manufacturing legacy. The design pays homage to Bahrain’s maritime traditions and incorporates Japanese wood artistry to celebrate the bilateral relationship between Bahrain and Japan.
تتوىلّى شركة شيبرد ستوديو البحرينيّّة تنفيذ التصاميم الداخليّّة للجناح، الذي يقدّّم كذلك عروضًًا بصريّّة ديناميكيّّة من إنتاج “لا ميدو”، تمنح الزوّّار تجربة عرض غامرة. كما يشمل الجناح أيضًًا معرضًًا مخصصًًا للأعمال. ستقدّّم معروضات الجناح مفهوم الترابط من خلال التجارة، والحِِرََف، والصناعة، والغوص على اللؤلؤ،والأعمال، والبيئة.
تقول الغطمة: “يجسد جناح البحرين مفاهيم الاستدامة والتبادل الثقافي والحِرَفية. تم تشييده باستخدام حوالي 3,000 قطعة من الخشب الطبيعي، وبتقنيات نجارة دقيقة، مما يقلل هدر المواد”، مضيفة: ” صممت الأساسات لكي تغني عن استخدام الخرسانة، وجميع المواد تقريبًا قابلة لإعادة الاستخدام، كما أن التبريد الطبيعي يحد من استهلاك الطاقة، ليكون بذلك الجناح نموذجًا للابتكار المستدام”.
The pavilion is constructed out of wood, embodying the Kingdom’s vision of promoting sustainability and taking advantage of its proximity to the sea for natural cooling and ventilation, which minimizes the need for mechanical cooling systems. After the conclusion of the Expo, all components are planned to be recycled. The galleries explore the theme of connectivity through trade, crafts, manufacture, pearling, business, and ecology.
“The Bahrain Pavilion embodies sustainability, cultural exchange, and craftsmanship. Built from around 3,000 pieces of engineered wood using intricate joinery, it minimizes waste,” says Ghotmeh, “Minimal foundations avoid concrete, nearly all materials are reusable, and passive cooling reduces energy use—making it a testament to sustainable innovation.”
تجربة الزائر
ويدعو جناح مملكة البحرين في إكسبو أوساكا زوّاره إلى خوض تجربة معرض حسّي يتفاعل مع الحواس الخمس. ويقدّم المعرض الذي نسّقته هيئة البحرين للثقافة والآثار مشاريع فنية مشتركة بالتعاون مع عدد من الشركات والفنانين والمبدعين مثل: شيبرد ستوديو، سيسيل تولاس، حسن حجيري، ولا ميدوز، والتي تروي موضوع التواصل عبر التجارة، الحرف، الصناعة، اللؤلؤ والبيئة. وتقول نورة السايح-هولتروپ، نائب المفوض العام لجناح البحرين: “تلقي مشاركة مملكة البحرين الوطنية الضوء على مرونة ثقافة البحر وقدرتها على التكيّف. فالبحر يشكل عنصرًا مركزيًا في البحرين، وهذه قيمة ثقافية نتشاركها مع اليابان، ونعبّر عنها من خلال الفن، والتصوير الفوتوغرافي، والموسيقى، والسينما.”
User Experience
Visitors are invited to experience the pavilion through a sensory exhibition experience that engages the five senses. Curated by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the exhibition features collaborations with artists Shepherd Studio, Sissel Tolaas, Hassan Hujairi, and La Méduse to narrate the theme of connectivity through trade, crafts, manufacture, pearling, and ecology in a series of galleries. “The Kingdom of Bahrain national participation explores the resilience and adaptability of sea cultures. The sea is a central component of the Islands of Bahrain, a significance that is shared in Japanese culture and expressed through art, photography, music, and film.” shares Noura Al Sayeh Holtrop, the Deputy Commissioner General of the Pavilion.
أما مقهى الجناح فيقدّم تجربة تذوق فريدةً من نوعها، مع تقديمه لقوائم طعام موسمية تمزج النكهات البحرينية المحلية بالمكوّنات اليابانية، تحت إشراف الشيف الحائزة على عدة جوائز تالة بشمي.
ويضم الجناح معرضًا مخصصًا يستشرف مستقبل البحرين، تحت إشراف مجلس التنمية الاقتصادية، يُبرز موقع المملكة الاستراتيجي ومكانتها كمركز اقتصادي عالمي مفتوح وبيئة جاذبة للاستثمار.
ويرتدي موظفو الجناح والمتطوّعون تصاميم حصرية من إبداع مصممة الأزياء البحرينية لولوة الأمين. وتتميّز تشكيلة الأزياء بطباعة فنية وزخارف مطرّزة مستوحاة من البيئة الساحلية، تعكس موضوع الجناح. وتكتمل التجربة بمتجر هدايا يضم منتجات تصميمية مستلهمة من التراث المحلي، مخصصة للكبار والصغار على حد سواء.
The pavilion’s café delivers a unique culinary experience with seasonal menus that blend local Bahraini flavors with Japanese ingredients and is crafted by award-winning chef Tala Bashmi.
A dedicated business floor developed by Bahrain’s Economic Development Board showcases the Kingdom’s strategic location and position as an open, global economic hub for investment.
Pavilion staff and volunteers wear exclusive designs by Bahraini fashion designer Lulwa Al Amin. The collection features artistic prints and embroidered coastal motifs, referencing the pavilion’s theme.
Complementing the experience is a gift store featuring design products inspired by local heritage for adults and children.
